Helsinki is a modern city, but with a 'classical' feel to it. Due to its location the city has developed a varied culture with influences from both the east and west.

The most striking feature in Helsinki is the different architectural styles. Neoclassical, Art Nouveau and National Romantic. The oldest area with a fine example of architecture is Senate Square. Sightseeing should also include Temppeliaukio Church, the Sibelius Monument and Market Square.

Fast train travel between Helsinki and St Petersburg is so easy and provides an ideal start or finish destination to one of our Russian programmes. Helsinki airport is efficient with many good conenctions worldwide. Several low cost carriers also serve the airport.
