London Pub Tour. Following a day at the World Travel Market, held in London, I had invited our Ekaterinburg partners on a historical pub tour (in a previous life I had designed and led such tours). The word spread and I soon had 14 Russians in tow, mainly from our partners office and the tourism sections of the local government.

Special Note: Konstantin was approached by the local government a few years ago to take charge of designing a tourism plans for the city. His secondment lasted 3 years and there are some noticeable benefits. The self walk sightseeing 'Red Line' that is painted on paths around the city centre is his brainchild and its final route was derived from a large survey he conducted with the inhabitants of the city seeking their suggestions for sights that should be included.

As we exited our carriage to the platform his second achievement was evident! English translations with all signage at the station. A first for Russia!! We noted that some other major cities are slowly picking up on this point, Kazan for example.
