Irkutsk Lake Baikal and
Cross-country SKIING in Siberia forest
5 Days / 4 Night
From mid November till mid March.
A five day/four night ski tour for those who would
like to make a change from, cities, railway stations and museums. This excursion
will allow you concentrate on some personal physical exertion and the natural
beauty present in the middle of a winter season Siberian forest. Observe the
lifestyle of a small Russian village in the middle of nowhere, a
settlement of about thirty houses situated on the edge of an immense forest one
and a half hours by local train from Irkutsk. Several nice ski paths start
here taking you into the snow draped pine forest. Listen to the silence or
wonder where the animal prints in the snow are going. During the week you will
hardly meet anyone, other than those resident in the village. On the weekends
there will be other cross-country enthusiasts from Irkutsk itself so a chance to
meet fellow Russian ski fans.

Programme outline:
5 Day Irkutsk, Lake Baikal and Ski
Experience
Day 1: Arrive in Irkutsk by train in the morning.
Shuttle transfer to Listvyanka village. Full day car excursion in Listvyanka
with a guide. Baikal museum entrance ticket included. Overnight on BB basis.
Day 2: After breakfast you will be transferred back to Irkutsk and put on board the morning (local) train to village stop. Accommodation is in the
wooden larch-tree (log cabin style) lodge with a traditional Russian stove. The
lodge (cabin) consists of one room (4x5 m). The 'stove' is the central heating
and cooking unit for the cabin. There is also a wooden Russian sauna. The guide
sleeps in a nearby hut. You can can
choose the distance (from 3km to 40 km) and physical levels of the ski path. In
the evening a sauna and dinner.
Day 3: A full day to enjoy the many ski trails.
Day 4: The next morning provides yet more time for some skiing before your
afternoon trip back to Irkutsk. Overnight Irkutsk at hotel or homestay.
Day 5: After breakfast free time. Transfer to railway station.

Due to the Odd and Even date system for train departures along the main Trans Siberian rail route you might require an extra night in Irkutsk to make this programme work for your individual plan. We will advise you if this is required, when you make a booking.
