Moscow Airshow Itinerary

The following programme is designed to allow you to visit the prime points of historical aviation interest around Moscow and attend the MAKS airshow at the Zhukovsky airfield - why not consider a MIG flight whilst you are in Russia - go on take a loan! In addition to aviation points of interest we have included the 'must see' items in both Moscow and St Petersburg. Naturally, there are other museums dedicated to various aspects of Russian aviation, space and military history. We can vary the programme to suit individual requirements.

MAKS
The International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS will be held at the Gromov Flight Research Institute at Zhukovsky airfield around 19 to 24 August 2013. During previous shows up to 50 fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft performed demonstration flights on the daily basis. Featured were the famous Russian aerobatic teams - Russian Knights and the Swifts from the Russian Air Force. Our programme is designed to visit the main public air show days on Saturday and Sunday. If desired we can arrange for you to visit on the trade days starting 21st August.

Day 1:
Arrive Moscow. Met and transferred to your accommodation. Balance of day free.

Day 2:
MAKS 2011 Airshow Moscow. Transfer to the airshow. Your return to your accommodation will be by the train and shuttle system set up for the airshow. Your guide (on the outbound transfer) will show you how this works. This means people can leave at their own time. Some people want to leave early and others linger longer.

Day 3:
MAKS 2011 Airshow Moscow. Arrangements as per previous day.

Day 4:
Visit to the Russian Airforce museum at Monino. This trip is by car with your guide. This has got to be THE aircraft museum in Russia. For more detail you might like to read my story about my first visit back in the early 90's when foreigners were still a suspect visitor.

Day 5:
Sightseeing tour of Moscow with guide 1000hrs to 1800hrs. To include the Red Square region of central Moscow, and the 'National Aviation and Space Museum'. This is with our 'Walking Guide'. Walking is a more efficient way to see the central sights and to experience the Moscow Metro system. Road traffic is a problem in Moscow and time can be wasted in jams! Entrance fees for the Kremlin (Red Square area) can be organised with the guide directly. This means each person can choose what they want to see and pay accordingly. Any other entry fees for other sites are paid directly as and when required.

Day 6:
Free day Moscow.

Day 7:
Services end. Depart Moscow.
