You must be a flexible, easy going, independent person, with
team spirit. Often you will be with several different nationalities. Some people join
trips together with a friend or partner, but many travel on their own. Group sizes will
normally range from between 6 to 21, but can sometimes be less and in South America may be
up to 24.
Most adventures require no more than an average level of fitness but bear in mind that
you can encounter extreme temperatures, climatic conditions and altitude. Many of our
programmes have strenuous "wild side" activities available. |

| You will be expected to
participate in all aspects of the tours, whether it is in some of the many "wild
side" activities, helping with the cooking (which is done on a rota basis
if part of the tour) or doing
camp chores. On the longer, more challenging expeditions, you will be instrumental in making
the journey happen. Your will and determination will be an important element of the trip.
You will often find that you will need to work together, whether it's bartering in the local
markets for the day's dinner, or digging the truck out of sand in the desert. Cohesion of
the group is very important. On an overland trip you will not be treated as a passenger
because you will be part of the team. Involve yourself, participate, throw yourself into the
frenzy of overland life and you will have a wild time. |

| When we are
camping we will cook on camp stoves and fires and eat camp food. This includes three meals
a day including a picnic lunch or the occasional local meal. When staying in hotels we eat
out in local restaurants. You are free to eat where and what you like. Try out the local
cuisine, its part of local life and a major part of the experience. Meals while staying in
hotels are not included in the kitty. |
