Day 4 - Excursion to Windsor Castle &
Hampton Court Palace Gardens
This delightful tour starts at the home
of the Royal Family for 900 years: Windsor
Castle - the largest and oldest occupied
Castle in the world.. You'll see the lavishly
decorated State Apartments*
containing priceless furniture in glorious colours
and St George's Chapel, home to the
14th Century Order of the Royal Garter,
our senior chivalric order. Departing Windsor we
make our way to the magnificent Hampton
Court via Runnymede, where
King John met his barons in 1215 and agreed to seal
the Magna Carta. We also see the
memorial to John F Kennedy on an acre of land given
to America by the people of Britain.
Hampton Court - The formal
gardens of Hampton Court reflect centuries
of careful cultivation resulting in a symphony of
regal splendour, symmetry and intricacy. You'll be
able to visit the South Gardens,
historically the private gardens that provided the
palace with its produce. These include the
Privy Gardens --the manicured masterpieces
of garden design completed in 1702 for William III,
the Lower Orangery and the more
formal and grand East Front Gardens.
