HISTORY TOURS
‘To
study history is to open one’s mind to the past, to embrace all that is great
and tragic about who we are and where we have been.’
A
history tour can be perfect tool for embracing first hand the past and our
education department works very closely with clients to develop the right
balance of required modern and ancient history syllabus visits with our personal
knowledge of each region.
The
21st century is a very exciting time to travel as most places in the
world are accessible and open for all visitors to enjoy. The proud heritages of
traditional destinations such as France and Italy are now complimented with the
new such as Russia, Eastern Europe, China and the Balkan states.
Page 3 of this newsletter has more on our
history tours. In addition Brent was working, this year, on a rather
special 5 country history tour which was a resounding success and used a lot of
his personal contacts in the field. This shows what can be done.

Travelling in 2011
With current exchange rates you should be
off! If you are planning to travel
to Europe, or the U.S. it would pay to gather together your currency
needs whilst the AU$ is so strong. Most banks offer a Cash Passport
(Foreign currency on a card) product. The latest offer from the CWB is a
card that can hold up to six foreign currencies. The AU$ may not be so
strong in 6 months. If you have one of these cards you can load it when
the rates are strong.

Scottish Bagpipes Rescue Vienna Tours
Tour operators
in Vienna have been deterring pesky rodents with bagpipes, protecting
tourists from rat bites.
Third Man Tours was forced to close after rats proved to be a nuisance,
but has since reopened thanks to the instrument.
“We get rid of
the rats by taking a bagpipe player down with us, and they sound really
great in the catacombs that tunnel all under the city,” said Third Man
Tours boss Peter |
